A trusted community builder, educator, and church musician running to make Denton more affordable, more transparent, and more welcoming for every neighbor.
Josh Taylor has lived two “Denton lives” — first as a college student and young teacher at Navo Middle School, and now as a single dad and professional church musician working in the heart of downtown Denton.
Over 15 years in education, nonprofits, universities, and the church, Josh has built a reputation for bringing people together, listening deeply, and helping communities navigate change with compassion and clarity.
Now he’s running for City Council, Place 6, to help Denton meet this moment with functional, transparent, people-centered leadership.
Josh’s campaign is grounded in three commitments:
Denton must remain livable for teachers, students, young families, and long-time residents. Josh supports responsible development, mixed-income housing, and using our municipally-owned electric utility to help fight rising costs.
Growing homelessness is a challenge we must meet with compassion and accountability. Josh will strengthen partnerships for mental health, housing, and support services while treating every neighbor with respect.
Too many big decisions are pushed through the consent agenda. Josh will push for open discussion, accessible information, and processes that give residents a real voice instead of leaving them in the dark.
With tight budgets and staff turnover, Denton needs long-term planning, clear priorities, and support for the people who keep the city running every day.
Denton’s identity is rooted in its arts scene, universities, and historic neighborhoods. Josh will champion public-private partnerships and smart growth that protect what makes Denton Denton.
This campaign will be powered by neighbors talking to neighbors. Join the team:
